JUST IN: Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has died after collapsing during a match in Kaduna State

According to a report by SCORENigeria on Friday, Eneramo reportedly collapsed and died while taking part in a football match in Kaduna State.

The 40-year-old was said to be playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna when the incident occurred.

He had come on as a second-half substitute before suddenly collapsing without any contact.

A source told the outlet: “He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

“He was pronounced dead at the hospital.”

Eneramo, who had retired from professional football, previously featured for clubs including Turkey’s Besiktas, Tunisian side Esperance, and Nigerian club Lobi Stars.

Before his death, he was reportedly involved in running a football academy.

Meanwhile, the official Super Eagles X handle paid tribute to the former striker on Friday, posting his image with the caption: “Rest in peace Michael.”
