  • by

The world football governing body announced the appointment on Monday through its official X account, stating that the officials for Match 101 have been confirmed.

Barton will oversee the semi-final at Dallas Stadium on Tuesday, July 14, with kick-off set for 3:00 p.m. EDT. He will be assisted by fellow Salvadoran David Moran and Argentina’s Antonio Pupiro, while Sweden’s Glenn Nyberg will serve as the fourth official and Mahbod Beigi as reserve assistant referee.

The appointment puts Barton in charge of one of the tournament’s biggest matches as two European heavyweights battle for a place in the World Cup final.

France, led by captain Kylian Mbappé, are chasing a third straight World Cup final after winning the title in 2018 and finishing runners-up in 2022.

Tuesday’s showdown will also reignite a growing rivalry between the two nations, following Spain’s 2-1 victory over France in the UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final. With a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on the line, fans can expect a thrilling battle between France’s experience and Spain’s exciting new generation.
