In August alone, Nigeria deported more than 100 people—60 of them Chinese nationals—after convictions for cyberterrorism and internet fraud. Most of those convicted were involved in online romance scams designed to lure victims into investing in fake cryptocurrency schemes, according to Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). “FCTA Clears 607 Beggars and Mentally Challenged Individuals from Abuja Streets”

“The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has, between July 2025 and the present, removed 607 beggars and mentally challenged individuals from Abuja’s streets.” Mrs Ukachi Adebayo, Head of  Enforcement, FCT Social Development Secretariat (SDS) made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.
