Badejo recently returned to Nigeria for an appeal court case scheduled in Ibadan on February 16, 2026, before being summoned by law enforcement authorities.
The Nigeria Police Force is set to arraign UK-based Nigerian blogger Maureen Badejo before the Federal High Court on Monday on multiple charges related to alleged cybercrime, Vibeslyfe has learned.
Badejo’s lawyer, Barrister George Ogunjimi, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the police intend to file a multi-count charge against the blogger following petitions reportedly submitted by senior Christian clerics.
According to Ogunjimi, Badejo had recently returned to Nigeria for an appeal court matter scheduled in Ibadan on February 16, 2026, before being invited by law enforcement authorities.
He explained that Badejo was arrested and interrogated by operatives of the police Cybercrime Unit at Adekunle Police Station in Yaba, Lagos, following a petition allegedly submitted by Apostle Johnson Suleman, the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries.
Addressing circulating claims on social media, Ogunjimi insisted that Badejo was not abducted or forcefully taken by the police, emphasizing that she voluntarily responded to the invitation.
“She was not picked up or abducted. She went to the police station personally in response to the invitation,” he said.
While at the station, Ogunjimi said a second petition emerged, this time from Pastor Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). This fresh petition led to Badejo’s continued detention and subsequent transfer to the Alagbon detention facility in Lagos.
Despite the developments, Ogunjimi expressed confidence in her case, noting that the alleged offences are bailable and that her legal team is prepared to challenge the charges in court.
“We are optimistic. The alleged offences are bailable, and by God’s grace, we will secure her bail on Monday,” he said.
Earlier reports by Vibeslyfe confirmed that Badejo was arrested on Friday in Lagos by detectives attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following petitions from Apostle Suleman and Pastor Olukoya. She was interrogated at the police Cybercrime Unit in Adekunle, Yaba.
While details of the allegations remain undisclosed, sources say the matter is linked to online publications and social media activities allegedly associated with the blogger.
As of Friday evening, the Nigeria Police Force had not issued an official statement clarifying the allegations or the legal basis for her detention. Efforts to reach the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for comment were unsuccessful.
Badejo’s legal troubles follow a 2023 UK court ruling in which Apostle Suleman was ordered to pay her £19,601 in sanctions after a defamation suit he filed against her was dismissed by the Queen’s Bench Division of the UK High Court of Justice. She had reportedly rejected an offer from Suleman to pay £500 monthly toward the judgment.
In December 2023, Vibeslyfe also reported that a former MFM pastor, Sunday Bawura Olowoyeye, filed a N1 billion suit against Pastor Olukoya over alleged illegal detention. Olowoyeye claimed he was held for 16 days at the Federal CID, Alagbon, Lagos, allegedly on Olukoya’s orders, after sharing grievances with Badejo, which she publicized.
Badejo has since interviewed several individuals who made serious allegations against the two clerics, allegations to which neither has publicly responded.
