“Oyo: Two Herdsmen Arrested for Kidnapping, Confess to Collecting N2.4m Ransom”

security operatives have arrested two suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly involved in a series of kidnappings in Iseyin, Oyo State.

The suspects, identified as Umaru Abubakar (25) and Bello Umaru Usman (32), were reportedly apprehended by operatives of Nigeria’s Forest Security Services during a sting operation in the Iseyin axis.

According to a video posted by a wtiness on Thursday, the duo, who had lived among local residents for years and spoke the native Yoruba language, were caught after a recent kidnap-for-ransom incident in the area.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in kidnapping activities, admitting that they had collected a total of ₦2.4 million from victims.

“This is our first time doing it. We have collected ₦2,400,000. It was one Alhaji Otu”s son that gave us information to kidnap our victim. When we were returning from the operation, we met the same Alhaji and decided to abduct him too,” one of the suspects reportedly said.

According to the video, the men were arrested with a large sum of money and ammunition believed to be proceeds and tools of their criminal operations.

Residents of Iseyin expressed outrage over the incident, accusing authorities of often releasing suspected kidnappers after arrest.

“I just hope the police won’t later release them because they always come back for revenge,” a resident said.
